Hi, I’m Lara (she/her).
I’m living proof that masterful client work without over-holding or stressful uncertainty is possible. After 20 years as a baby coach then turned Seasoned Somatic Psychotherapist I’ve learned that the most important thing about confident, handle-anything, next-level client work isn’t about modality or about having a gift.
It’s all about mastering the super unique Practitioner-Client Dynamic. Because decades of research shows that the best client outcomes aren’t about modality, they’re about alliance—another way of saying they’re about the relational dynamic.
While you’ve been taught that your client’s outcomes are about them, the truth is that they’re also about you and the kind of dynamic you cultivate with them. Why? Because we’re social animals and we’re all in this together.

Every difficult moment with a client—a power struggle, their resistance, their lack of positive results, their pushback, their not implementing what you discussed, the pressure you feel to solve it, the need to repair a hurt—all of it can be traced back to these hierarchical structures.

Unbeknownst to you, you were taught to create hierarchy in a room where people are trying to heal from that very energy and if you’re not careful, those threads will weave themselves right into the psyche of your clients and reinforce their pain rather than heal it.

FAQ
Am I too beginner?
Only if you’ve never worked with clients before. What I’ll be teaching should be at the foundation of good client work, so it’s never too early or too late.
Am I too advanced?
Nope. The more seasoned you are, the more sophisticated your thinking will be around these topics, which I welcome, because it means you’ll be able to apply the frameworks and expand into more depths with them in your work.
Why is this for both therapists and coaches?
I have a lot to say on this. Doesn’t it sometimes feel like coaches and therapists are supposed to be sworn enemies? In my belief, this is just more proof of the problem with our industries. There are incredibly skillful and gifted practitioners in both professions.
There are glaring problems with the therapy industry. There are glaring problems with the coaching industry. There are glaring problems with the wellness industry. This workshop series exists at the venn diagram intersection of all those overlapping problems, so we’re all in it together. If you have strong biases against either coaches or therapists, you’ll want to do what you need to do to open yourself up to respect because that’s the environment I’m holding.
Who is this for?
Coaches, therapists, and wellness practitioners who work with clients in a transformational way. It’s for those who know they have a gift and who want to be able to offer that gift at its highest potential. It’s for those who know the incredible privilege it is to work with clients in the ways we do, but who also want that work to feel relaxed, productive, and not so full of effort, grind, or try-hard.
Who is this not for?
- If you’re one of the over-policing, righteous, or gatekeeping practitioners we’ve all encountered online who has a lot to say about what other practitioners should or shouldn’t be doing, this won’t be for you because the culture here is one in which we don’t shame or police but rather learn together. Part of the problem in the therapy industry is that practitioners don’t always feel safe enough to ask questions or get supervision on things they think they’re “supposed to know.” Not here. We can all learn from each other. Participants will be asking questions and sharing client scenarios anonymously in order to get mentorship so you’ll need to be good with that.
- If you’re one of the practitioners for whom making money is a bigger goal of yours than knowing deep in your being that you’re truly helping your clients get breakthrough results, this won’t be for you because the entire point of this offering is to become a client whisperer, someone masterful in their client work. This will need to be important to you in order for you to do the work in the course.
- This is not for you if it’s just a job to you, if you have a hard time empathizing with others in a group field who are different from you, or if your political views keep you from recognizing the humanity and worth of all people and identities.
Will there be recordings?
Yes! You’ll be able to access them online as you need.
What if I can’t attend live?
You’ll have the recordings plus the workbook and the ability to interact with the group and me through the online portal.
Is this a safe space for me? I have an identity that’s more marginalized.
I’m committed to anti-oppression and cultivating a welcome space for all identities and I’ve been learning how to do this over many years. That said, many (but not all) of my team and my teachers have been white and I recognize that unconscious bias does exist. I’m devoted to doing the right thing and in this context that means I will value, respect, and integrate any feedback you have.

Learn more modalities. Put yourself above the client at all times and don’t let your humanity show. View their issues through a lens that aims to diagnose what’s wrong with them so you can follow a pathway to fix it.
And if they’re not getting the desired results, make that their responsibility rather than considering how the process might not be working for them and shifting.
As long as you can come up with something to sell that’s mildly helpful, go for it.
It’s not efficient. It’s not elegant. It’s not productive. And it’s not right.
It’s baffling to me that the old ways are still being taught and used when there’s such a better way for both your clients and you.
